Obituary of Gertrude Sloey
Gertrude "Trudie" Sloey
Of Waukesha, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the age of
88. Trudie graduated from Garfield High School in Fond du Lac, St. Agnes School of Nursing in
Fond du Lac, and St. Francis School of Anesthesia in La Crosse. She was a loving and
compassionate nurse anesthetist for 45 years, and proudly practiced at St. Joseph's, St.
Anthony's and Elmbrook Memorial Hospital's. Trudie was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran
Church, Waukesha for 47 years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Trudie was the loving mother of, Kathleen (Robert) Townsend of Ft. Atkinson, Karen (Philip Lund)
Sloey of Golden Valley, MN and Thomas Sloey of Wales; loving and caring grandmother of, Alison,
Whitney and Heather Townsend, Erik, Arianna and Cassandra Lund, Andrew and Elise Sloey;
cherished sister of, Donald (Patricia) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Helen Jean (Edward) LeRoy of
Albany, Oregon and Lu (Donald) Miller of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by, other relatives
and friends. Trudie is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Ruth Wegener; and brothers,
Roland and Robert Wegener.
The funeral service for Trudie will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at St.
Luke's Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha, WI 53186. The Reverend Kathy Boadwine will
be officiating. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the 5:00p.m.
service at the church. Entombment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
