Obituary of Fred S. Horner
Fred S. Horner "Jack"
Of Waukesha died on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of
86 years. Jack was born on January 26, 1925, a son of Fred and Lorraine Horner. He was a
member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha. Jack owned and operated Jack's
Service Station for many years and also worked as an electrical engineer for Waukesha Dresser
until his retirement in 1997. He proudly served as a Waukesha County Reserve Sheriff Deputy
and faithfully served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Jack's greatest joy was spending time with his
family. He will be remembered as a hardworking gentleman who "put a lot into everything with a
whole lot of nothing."
Jack will be dearly missed by his best friend and wife, Dorothy; children, Rex (Mary) Horner, Scott
Horner, Bruce Horner, Todd (Mary) Horner, Robin (Becky) Drout and David (Jennifer) Drout;
grandchildren, Kara (Andrew), Nichole (John), Kimberly, Kalina, Benjamin (Michelle), Maria,
Pamela, Matthew, Lori, Thomas and Allison; great-grandsons, Hunter and Noah; and sister, Linda
(Gary) Bradak. Jack is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He
was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, a granddaughter, Erica, and his parents.
The visitation for Jack will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. on Friday,
December 2, 2011, at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha,
WI 53188. Reverend Larry Smith will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at
Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
