Obituary of Helen E. Sapinski

Helen E. Sapinski (nee Malm) Of Wauwatosa, formerly of Whitefish Bay, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2012 at the age of 97. She was born on June 29, 1914, in Hallock, MN, the daughter of Oscar and Elin Malm. She married the love of her life, Henry "Hank" Sapinski in Milwaukee on Nov. 14, 1936. Helen worked as a Correctional Officer for the Milwaukee Co. Sheriff's Dept. at the women's jail, before retiring. She also worked at the Diagnostic Treatment Center. Helen is a long time member of United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay. She belonged to the Shorewood Homemaker's, Whitefish Bay Seniors and Lutheran Fellowship. Helen enjoyed traveling. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Helen will be sadly missed by her son, Tom (Cheryl) Sapinski; grandchildren, Rebecca (Dan) McGinley and Andrew (Kris) Sapinski; great-grandchildren, Aubree and Ashlyn Sapinski, Kaitlyn, Kylee and Sullivan McGinley. She is preceded in death by her husband Henry, and 5 brothers, Carl, Evert, Verner, David and Harry Malm; 2 sisters, Louise Saben and Thyra Kaetel. She is further cherished by many caring extended family members and friends. The visitation for Helen will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. memorial service on Saturday 18, 2012 at United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay, 819 E. Silver Spring Dr. Whitefish Bay, WI 53217. Burial will take place privately at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials to the Children's Dyslexia Center - Milwaukee, 790 N.
