Obituary of Genevieve A. Koopmann

Genevieve Koopmann "Gen " Of Oconomowoc, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at the age of 91 years. She was born on July 28, 1920, in Tilden Nebraska, the daughter of Emil and Meta Schlecht . Gen married the love of her life, Norris H. Koopmann, on January 12, 1941. She was a graduate of Milwaukee Area Technical College and received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from UW-Whitewater. Gen proudly worked at MATC- South Campus as a business education instructor. In the early 1980's Norris and Gen retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas where they enjoyed many years together. Due to health problems, in 2011 Gen returned to Wisconsin and made her home at Shorehaven in Oconomowoc. Gen will be sadly missed by her daughters, Lynette (Wayne) Owens of Waukesha, WI and Diane (Robert) Midland of Caledonia, MN; grandchildren, Jonathan (Leticia) Klug of West Allis, WI, Katherine Teramura of Rogers, AR, Jason (Irene) Klug of Waukesha, WI, and Joshua Midland of Minneapolis, MN; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jasmine, José, Victor, Joshua, Spencer, Camila, Calista and Bryan. She is further survived by, extended grandchildren, Steven (Meghan) Owens, Jeffrey (Susan) Owens, Brian (June) Owens; extended great-grandchildren, Caitlynn and Rhyann Owens; sister, Quinta (Theodore) Schubkegel of Oklahoma City, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Donald (Marlene) Koopmann of Stanton, NE; and other relatives and friends. Gen is preceded in death by her husband, Norris; brothers Willard (Loretta) Schlecht, and Orville (Lorene) Schlecht; sister, Regina (Ewald) Zemke; great-grandson Kaleb; and brother-in-law, Gerhard (Elizabeth) Koopmann. The visitation for Gen will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. A second visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, April 10, at the funeral home. The Rev. Daniel Schmidt will be officiating. Private burial will take place at Bella Vista Cemetery in Bella Vista, AR. Memorials in Gen's name appreciated to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 626 W. Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715.
