Obituary of Ella B. Garvens

Ella B. Garvens Of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the age of 97 years. She was a longtime worker at the A&P Store in Waukesha at the age of 16 as the bookkeeper, the head cashier and as the A&P supervisor. She started out in South Milwaukee and went to the new A&P store in Waukesha when it first opened in 1947. She had many more years in Waukesha after that and worked there until she retired. Ella married Edward Duehring and they had a son, Eugene, together. They also had four grandchildren, Patti, Laurie, Debbie and Tommy. Her four grandchildren all live in California now. Long after Ella's retirement, her brother, Leo Kollath moved in with her and took care of her. When he could not take care of her anymore, his oldest daughter, Coralee Perschon-Fell, and Coralee's husband, Albert, moved in to take care of the both of them. Leo passed away on August 20, 2010. Aunt Ella was in very good health for her age, even better than Coralee was (who holds a full time job for the last 30 years at River Hills Nursing home in Dietary. In a few year's she and Albert will move to Clintonville, WI). Ella had three sisters, Lorrain, the twins, Dorothy and Dolly; two brothers Leo and Arnold Kollath. She then married Charles Garvens after Edward's death. His children became like her own. Ella will be dearly missed by her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Duehring; her grandchildren, Patti Brown, Laurie Duehring, Debra A. Steward and Tommy Duehring of California; her nieces and nephews, Coralee, Monty, Lori, Joe, Leo Jr. Kollath.; Carl, Wally, David, the twins, Dick, Roger Zersow, Jerry, James, Donnie and Ronnie Schmidt. Charlie, Joyce, Beverly, Bonnie Newby, Shirley Kollath; step daughter, Sheryl Dacquisto(who was like a daughter to Ella), and step son's and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren, other family and friends. Ella is preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Carl Kollath; son, Eugene Duehring; sisters Dorothy Schmidt, Doris "Dolly" Zerzow, Lorraine Ziegler; brothers Arnold and Leo Kollath; brother-in-law, Raymond Schmidt; nephews, Dale Kollath, John Schmidt, Dean Newby and son-in-law Nick Dacquisto. A visitation for Ella will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the11:00 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd, Waukesha, WI 53188. The Reverend Michael Turriff will officiate the service. Burial will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
