Obituary of Gerald L. Bartlein
Gerald L. "Jerry " Bartlein
Of Butternut, WI, formerly of Waukesha, died on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the age of 77
years. Jerry was born in Milwaukee on March 21, 1935, son of Lawrence and Sylvia Bartlein.
On April 29, 1994, he married JoAnn Flint. Jerry proudly served his country in the United
States Marines. He was involved with the Marine Corps League and was the past State Marine
Corps Commandant and historian. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and playing pool.
Jerry will be dearly missed by his wife, JoAnn; children, Sharon (Doug) Vanderhei, Patti
(Dennis) Poulakos, Ruth (Matt) Schneider, Britta Nell, Michael (Heather) Bartlein, and Harvey
(Brenda) Bartlein; grandchildren, Adam (Melissa) Vanderhei, Nathan and Nicholas (Monica)
Poulakos, Greg, Amanda and Derek Nell, Hayley and Emilee Bartlein and Jenna Bartlein;
great-grandchildren, Ryan Poulakos and Bradyn Vanderhei; brother, Jim (Karen) Belan; and
sister, Donna Frederiksen. Jerry is further survived by other relatives and many friends. He
was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; infant daughter, Cynthia; son-in-law, Curt;
parents, Lawrence Bartlein, Jim, Sr. and Sylvia Belan; and sister, Joyce.
A visitation for Jerry will be from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the
Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188.
A second visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the 10:00 AM funeral service on
Friday, April 13, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home (see address above).
The Reverend Gary Liedtke will officiate the service. Burial with Military Honors will
immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jerry's name are appreciated by the family to be donated to a
Wisconsin Veteran's Organization.
