Obituary of John A. Houk

John A. "Jack " Houk Of Portage, died on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 87 years. John was born in Dousman, WI on March 3, 1925, the son of Albert and Hazel Houk (nee Waters). He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Portage. He worked as a Metal Fabricator at Butler Bin, Portec and Ibachall Steel. He enjoyed fast pitch softball, fishing, golfing, playing cards, bowling, and going to the casino. John's greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. John will be dearly missed by his wife, Rachel Ciampa Houk (nee Wilson); children, Steve (Patty) Houk, Tim (Judy) Houk, Mary Lou (Mike) Hoffman, Tina (Chris) Kadrich, Joe (Sheri) Houk, Dan Ciampa, Doug (Holly) Ciampa, Darren Ciampa; grandchildren, Megan and Kevin Houk, Katie (Roberto) Gonzalez, Michael Houk, Shelley (Caleb) Coppinger, Carrie Houk, Justin (Megan), Tricia, Jerod (Samantha) and Heather Hoffman, Mat (Katie) and Christi Kadrich, Gabrielle and Carson Houk, Tom, Becca, Alissa, Dakota and Brittany Ciampa; great-grandchildren, Baby Gonzalez; Caleb, Madalynn, Mya, Camrin, Jayden, Connor, Sophie, Hunter, and Angel; sister, Arlene (Bob) Shaske; sisters-in-law, Joan Houk, brother-in-law, Bill (Jean) Majeskie, sisters-in-law, Gerry (Harley) Miner, Sr. Michael Majeskie, Muffy (Henry) Traver, Evie, Betty, Shirley, Betty Majeskie and Lois Neuman. John is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Pat (nee Majeskie); great-grandson, Carter Coppinger; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Ciampa; parents; step-mother, Vida; brothers, Milton (Bea) and Lavern Houk; father- and mother-in-law, Lawrence (Mary) Majeskie (nee Nettesheim); sisters-in-law, Dolly (John) Kissinger, Aggie (Bob) Hoffman, Petie (Dick) Seeger, Joanne Majeskie; brothers-in-law, George, Bob, Romie, Skip Majeskie, Maurice (Bernice) and Robert (Joyce) Wilson, and Alan Neuman. The visitation for John will be held from 4:00PM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 6:00PM on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. The Reverend William Key will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's name are appreciated to AngelsGrace Hospice, W359 N7430 Brown St. (County Hwy.
