Obituary of Mabel E. Buhl

Of Waukesha, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at LindenGrove, at the age of 95 years. She was born on February 22, 1917, the daughter of George and Annie Barribeau in Oconto, WI. Mabel married Dr. John Buhl on October 15, 1988. She was a member of St Mary Catholic Church where she was involved in the Catholic Study Group. Mabel was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Mary's Vincent de Paul's Society and the Waukesha Serra Club. She loved to cook, bake and sew. Mabel was active with her children in the local 4H clubs when they were younger. She and John loved to travel and their travels took them to many places in Europe and Ireland. Mabel and John also went to St. Lucia on medical missions to help the people of that country. Mabel will be sadly missed by her husband, John of over 23 years; her children, Jim Sullivan of Waukesha, Kathy Vandenberg of Waukesha, Mary (Dennis Pells) Casey of the Town of Genesee, Kevin (Michelle) Buhl of South Dakota, Dennis (Linda) Buhl of Waukesha and Edie Hoeft of Pewaukee; her son-in-law, Ed Vandenberg of Waukesha; her grandchildren, Ann (Kate) Vandenberg, Julie (Treg) Peyton, Lillian Casey, John Paul Casey, Michelle Hoeft and Danny Hoeft; her great-grandchildren, Taylor Vandenberg and Sophia Peyton. She is further survived by her brother, Bernard Barribeau of Oconto; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mabel is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ed Sullivan; and her sisters. The first visitation for Mabel will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave. Waukesha, WI 53186. The Rev. Howard Haase will officiate. There will be a second visitation for Mabel on Wednesday afternoon at St. Mary's Catholic Church from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM. The burial will take place at Oconto Catholic Cemetery in Oconto, WI at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 30, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated by Mabel's family to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, S30 W24836 Sunset Drive, Waukesha, WI 53189.
