Obituary of Irmgard A. Block

Of Waukesha, died on Friday, July 27, 2012, at the age of 91 years. Irmgard was born on June 23, 1921, in Manitowoc County to Pastor Karl and Lydia Toepel. She attended schools in Algoma, WI and was a graduate of the Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing. Inky was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps 60th General Hospital, where she served in New Guinea and the Philippines from 1944 to 1945. She also worked as a staff nurse at the Milwaukee hospital, Waukesha Memorial Hospital, and the medical clinic in Waukesha. Inky was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Inky is survived by nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Block, who was awarded the Purple Heart while serving in Combat Infantry 84th Division. Inky was also preceded by her parents, one sister and three brothers. There will be no visitation or service. Inurnment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
