Obituary of William S. Weiland

Of Waukesha and Surprise, Arizona, passed away peacefully at Seasons Hospice on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at the age of 81 years. William, son of the late William J. and Emma (nee Erickson) Weiland, was born on January 30, 1931, in Milwaukee. He lived in Milwaukee until the age of 4 when his family moved to Markesan where his father started a plumbing business. Bill attended Markesan Grade School and graduated from high school in the class of 1949. He attended Western New Mexico University, Silver City, New Mexico, from 1949-1951. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955. On May 8, 1954, he married Darlene Zanto at the Methodist Church in Markesan. Both he and his wife attended Western New Mexico University from August of 1955 and graduated in the spring of 1957. Bill worked for the Wisconsin Employment Service and Wisconsin Vocational Service Department, and began at Curative Workshop (presently Curative Rehabilitation Service) in 1966. He remained at Curative for 20 years, serving as the Executive Vice President at their facility located in the Milwaukee County Medical Complex. Bill played baseball (outfield) in high school, college, and on the Markesan Town Municipal local team during the summer years of 1948-51. He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers baseball fan and in recent years, was a season ticket holder. Bill is survived by his wife, Darlene (nee Zanto); 2 daughters, Deborah Vanderboom of Waukesha; Linda (Michael) Shaw of Chandler, Arizona; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Vanderboom, Evan and Taylor Shaw; and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three very special AFS children; daughter, Kristin (Sven) Klemp (Norway); and grandchildren, Claudia (Marc) Biscardi-Pelfort (Venezuela) and Costantino Tarducci (Italy). He was preceded in death by his parents and cousin, Robert Cady of Margate, FL. The visitation for Bill will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the 6:00 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Waukesha, WI 53188. The Reverend Kris Androsky will be officiating. A private family burial will take place at Summit Cemetery, Oconomowoc, WI.
