Obituary of Joris A. Garvens

Joris A. Garvens Of Waukesha, passed away peacefully at his home and into the arms of His Savior on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the age of 73 years. He was born on May 18, 1939, in Waukesha, WI, the son of Charles and Ruth (nee Bird) Garvens. Joris graduated from Waukesha High School. Joris was a lifelong member of MT. Calvary Lutheran Church. He was proud to serve in the Wisconsin National Guard. Joris married the love of his life, Kathryn "Kathy" (nee Muehleck) on July 7, 1962. He has always loved cars; buying, selling and driving. Joris was always the one to count on if you needed to find a good car deal. He worked at a few area car dealerships before going to work for the Godfrey/Fleming (Sentry) Company, where he worked for 30 years. Joris will be sadly missed by his wife, Kathy of 50 years; sons, Jory (Lisa, nee Gormley) Garvens, Todd (Paula, nee Gurath) Garvens; beloved grandchildren, Alexandra and Mason; sister, Sherryl D'Acquisto; brother, Jan Garvens; sister-in-laws, Mary Anita Martin(nee Muehleck), Sister Barbara Muehleck- Order of Saint Claire; brother-in-law, Tom Nettesheim. Joris is further survived by many dear nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. The visitation for Joris will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the 5:30 p.m. funeral service on Monday, October 8, 2012 at MT. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1941 Madison St. Waukesha, WI 53188. The Reverend, Michael Turriff and Reverend Robert Frick will be officiating. Burial will be on Tuesday, at 10:00a.m. at Prairie Home Cemetery.(Please meet inside gates off of Prairie Ave.) In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joris's name to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church & School appreciated. (see address above).
