Obituary of Doris G. Scarce

Doris G. Scarce, of Caledonia, formerly of Waukesha, surrounded by family, died on Saturday, December 8, 2012 when the Lord opened His gates she heard His voice. He called her name and led her home. She was born in Waukesha on July 15, 1922, the daughter of Herman and Ellen Bartelt. On June 23, 1958 she married Eugene P. Scarce. Doris was an active member of Our Lord's United Methodist Church for many years and Raymond Community Church later in life. She was also a member of the VFW Post #721 in Waukesha for over 65 years. She worked as a neighborhood cosmetician at South Side Pharmacy, and Phillips Pharmacy in Waukesha and Elm Grove. In retirement she worked at K-mart in New Berlin and Waukesha for over 10 years. She loved dealing with the public when she was working, and rummaging on her days off. Her greatest loves in life were her Lord and family. Doris will be sadly missed by her son, Mark R. (Jan) Scarce; stepdaughter, Sharon L. Schult, and stepson, Bill (Carol) Scarce; grandchildren, Christine M. (Christopher) Kniech, David W. (Sheri) Gottfried Jr., Richard J. (Lisa) Gottfried, Cassandra M. (Jonathan) Chalmers, Christopher M. (Jessica) Scarce, Nicki Scarce, and Becca Scarce; great grandchildren, Sarah, Abby, D.J. , Logan, Olivia, Aubrianna, Skyler, Aiden, Ashton, and Hala; step-grandchildren, Paul, Aaron, Joelle, Kevin, Diona, Jo-El, William "Billy", Molly, Margie. Doris is further survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Eugene P. Scarce Sr.; sons, Eugene "Gino" Scarce Jr. and David W. Gottfried Sr. The first visitation for Doris will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at the Raymond Community Church, United Church of Christ, 8217 W. Hwy G, Raymond, WI 53126. A second visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. service on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. Burial will immediately follow the service at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Raymond Community Church, United Church of Christ are appreciated (see address above). The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Heartland Hospice for the exceptional care that Doris received, and a very special thank you to Doris's home health care nurse, Amy Maki.
