Obituary of Patricia Louise Crewes Shonkwiler

Patricia Louise Crewes Shonkwiler, age 84, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 18, at 2:45 AM at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was born March 31, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Pat was the daughter of the late, James A. and Marie M. Crewes. She was the beloved wife of the late George Shonkwiler, for 39 years, who preceded her in death in 1990. Pat graduated from Howe High School in Indianapolis in 1946 and was a graduate of Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri. She was an accountant for her father's Typewriter store in Indianapolis and a homemaker. Pat lived in Buffalo, NY, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Waukesha, WI for 38 years, and moved to Agape Assisted Living in Rock Hill, SC in 2011. She had a passion for training dogs, and loved to study American history. Pat was a member of P.E.O. since 1946, served as treasurer in the Waukesha, Wisconsin chapter, and she recently transferred to the chapter in Rock Hill, SC. She most loved having her children and grandchildren around her and spending time with them. Pat is survived by her brother, James E. Crewes and his wife, Shirley of Indianapolis, IN; nieces, Beverly Owens and her husband, Norm, and Marsha Rossiter and her husband, Tom; her children, Stephen C. Shonkwiler and his wife, Janet of Rock Hill, SC, Jeffrey C. Shonkwiler and his wife, Dee of Hudson, WI, Norman C. Shonkwiler and his wife, Jean of Hartland, WI, and daughter, Leslie Shonkwiler Duket and her husband, Todd of Wales, WI; grandchildren, Nathan and Alex Shonkwiler, Alex Jostad, Katie, and Sarah Shonkwiler, Tyler and Heidi Duket; her step-grandchildren, April Alabbasi and Robert Robinson; and step-great-grandchildren, Sabrina Sizemore and Leena Alabbasi. The visitation for Pat will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. on Thursday, January24, 2013 at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Waukesha, WI 53188. A second visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. CST/12:00 p.m. EST until the 12:00 p.m. CST/1:00 p.m. EST. funeral service on Saturday, January 26, at Raub Methodist Church, 8404 N. State Road 71, Earl Park, IN 47942. The burial will immediately follow at The Fleming Cemetery, York Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Patricia's name to P.E.O.
