Obituary of Irene L. Hargrave

Irene L. Hargrave, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the age of 98 years. Irene was born on November 4, 1914, in Wauwatosa, WI, the daughter of Ferdinand and Elsie (nee Seeman) Semrow. She married the love of her life, Chester W. Hargrave, on September 22, 1934. Irene worked at Sentry Foods in Waukesha for over 20 years, the last six as a floral designer. She was a 4-H leader in Waukesha County for over 10 years. After moving to Markesan, WI, she was employed at Patrick's Floral Shop. Irene enjoyed quilting, crafts and travel. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Irene will be sadly missed by her children, JoEllen (Roy) Meidenbauer, Carol (Friend Steve) Gonzales, Larry (Karen) Hargrave and Christine (Brian) Whitehaus. Irene is further survived by 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and one on the way; half-brother Gerald (Joan) Moulton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester, brother, Elmer Semrow, and half-sister, Janet Condon. The visitation for Irene will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service at the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ, 413 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. The Rev. Ralph Schultz will be officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
