Janina Cappozzo

Obituary of Janina Evelyn Cappozzo

Of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 86. Janine was born on June 26, 1926, in Ironwood, MI, the daughter of Renaldo and Angelina (Del Boccio) Schiavetti. After graduating from St. Ambrose High School in 1944, Janine moved to Waukesha to live with long-time family friends, the Brazzales, and to look for a job in the big city. It was through them that Janine met the love of her life, Frank Terzo Cappozzo. The two were wed on July 19, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where Janine has been a long time member and faithful attendee. After over 30 happy years together, her husband Frank passed away in 1979. Janine carried on his legacy by maintaining the beautiful gardens at their home. Janine was an exceptional cook and she enjoyed hosting holidays and special celebrations for family and friends. No one ever went home hungry or without leftovers. Janine also took pleasure in time spent at Aqua aerobics classes with friends at the YWCA, and later the YMCA. She attended these classes 3 times a week for over 30 years. Most of all Janine loved music, dancing, and attending the sporting events and music performances of her grandchildren. She particularly liked spending time enjoying the music of bands that her family members played in, including 'The Godfathers' and 'El Rey and the Nightbeats'. Janine worked for the Hein-Werner Company for many years, and she later retired from the City of Waukesha after 26 years as an account clerk at the City Garage. Janine was a loving mother and will be deeply missed by her three sons, Frank (Gina), Terry (Bev), and James "Jim" (Kathy) Cappozzo. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren, Elisa, Dominic, Carly, Tony and Angelina, and her great-granddaughter, Cara Leigh. She is further survived by sister-in-laws, Esther Schiavetti, Ida (Harry) Collins, Karen Cappozzo, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Janine is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her parents, her brothers, Benji and Ungie Schiavetti, and an infant granddaughter, Cara Maureen. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to her caregivers, Grace Kliziene and Janina "Nina" Derkintiene for providing Janine with the exceptional, compassionate and loving care that allowed her to stay in her home. They also appreciate the assistance in her final days from Season's Hospice. A celebration of Janine's life will be held on February 2, 2013 with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd. Waukesha, WI 53188. The Rev. Curt Frederick will be officiating with Deacon Harry Collins assisting. The entombment will take place privately at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Waukesha. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janine's memory to Katy's Kloset of Waukesha, W246 S3244 Industrial Ln., Unit B, Waukesha, WI 53189, the YMCA of Waukesha, 320 E. Broadway, Waukesha, WI 53186, or memorials for Masses would be appreciated.
