Obituary of David L. Idleman

David peacefully passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on February 20, 2013 after a courageous three year battle with esophageal cancer. David was born on September 1, 1952 in Van Nuys, California to James and Ellen (nee Jensen) Idleman and was the youngest of six children. He is a graduate of Simi Valley High School. In 1971, David moved to Waukesha, Wisconsin where he worked as a cook for Dutchland Dairy, BC Junior's, Rick's on Broadway and Jennifer's, ironically, with the changing of names and hands, the building stayed the same. After David left Jennifer's, he worked as a janitor at the YMCA, then as a cook at Cooper Power Systems. From there David went to Hardee's, first in Waukesha, then in Hartland. When Hardee's closed, David went to work at McDonald's where he made many new and wonderful friends and remained until his cancer became too much in 2009. Along with working at McDonald's, David also worked part time for the Waukesha Freeman as a short-distance runner, taking misplaced papers to clients. He was also the courier for Moreland Lab where he would take specimens from doctors to the lab. In his free time, David loved music, television and movies, especially Star Trek. David is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann (nee Fabisiak); daughters, Melissa (Nick) Henriksen and Miranda Idleman; and his grandson, Braden Henriksen. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy in Colorado; brother James Jr. in California; and brother-in-law, Bill in Nova Scotia; as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed. David was preceded in death by his father and mother; sisters, Judy, Nancy and Mary; his in-laws, Gregory and Eleanor (nee Moore) Fabisiak; and sister-in-law, Margaret "Muggs" Fabisiak. The family wishes to thank Dr. Federico Sanchez and the Aurora Cancer Center for their wonderful care as well as the Pro-Health Care Hospice for their kindness and consideration at the last stages of David's life. At David's request, there will not be a funeral service. Memorials are appreciated to David's family. Finally, David has boldly gone where no man has gone before.
