Obituary of Mary K. Caven

Mary K. Caven of Waukesha passed away on Monday, July 01, 2013 peacefully with her family by her side at Avalon Square at the age of 91 years. She was born on May 27, 1922, in Delevan, MN, the daughter of Frank and Alice (nee McCormic) Carey. Mary married the love of her life Charles Caven on June 28, 1944. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, very proud of her Irish heritage, and a wild but wonderful member of the Red Hatter's. Mary loved to travel and especially cherished the trip to Ireland with her friend, Theresa Held. Mary was an avid bridge player and enjoyed bowling, golf and participating with RSVP and Finders Keepers. Mary was proud to have been a secretary in many businesses throughout her life. Most of all she was very proud of her children and loved spending time with all her family. Mary will be sadly missed by her children, Mary A. "Molly" Caven of Waukesha, Rita Caven of St. Paul, MN, Joan (Mark) Hanson of Cambridge, WI, James (Connie) Caven of Napa, CA and John (Sara) Caven of Oconomowoc, WI; grandchildren, Adam (Angela) Hanson, Emily Hanson, Nicole Caven, Kellie (Jason) Johnson, Danny Caven, Brendan Caven, Kalli, Casandra, Karina and Christina Nielsen; great-grandchildren, Brody and Aedan Johnson, Kalea Nielsen, and Brooks Hanson; sister Sally Carey of Minneapolis, MN. She is further survived by a daughter-in-law, Debby Caven; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Charles; sons, Thomas and Daniel; brothers, Harold, Francis and Robert Carey. The visitation for Mary will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave. Waukesha, WI 53186. In lieu of flowers memorials in Mary's name may go to the National Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC), The ARC 1825 K Street NW, Suite 1200, Washington, DC 20006, Vitas Hospice, 2675 N. Mayfair Rd. #500 Wauwatosa, WI 53226 or to St. Mary's Catholic Church, (please see address above) would be appreciated. The burial will take place privately at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
