Obituary of Lewis Lon Miller

Lewis Lon Miller, formerly of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Arizona Hospice in Sun City, Arizona at the age of 87 years. Lewis was born in Milwaukee on September 27, 1925, the son of Ray and Ilka (nee Hilbig) Miller. He was a graduate of Washington High School. Lewis served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. During this time his knowledge of aviation hydraulics proved invaluable. After his service, Lewis attended Marquette University where he earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree. With his father, Raymond, he founded and developed Miller Tilt-Top Trailers, Inc. Miller trailers have been used around the world for transporting heavy construction machinery. Success in business allowed him to enjoy many triumphs racing, sports cars, and power boats. As an advantaged sportsman, he gained accolades in competitive firearm and archery tournaments, and has taken many large trophy big game animals across North America. Some of his proudest moments were bagging an 8' bull shark and a charging wild boar with his archery equipment. The boar's tooth was a treasure he wore around his neck. In his retirement years he enjoyed wood carving, pyrography, oil painting, feeding the birds, and he married the love of his life, Marilyn Louis Raymer on September 27, 2007. Lewis is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Scott (Elly) Miller, Nancy (James) Diedrich, and Ted Miller from his first marriage; step-children, Elizabeth (John) Lamberty, Douglas (Lynn) Raymer, and Kathleen (Rob) Schmitt; and grandchildren, Andy, Melody and Miles Miller and Kayla and Robert Lamberty. Lewis is further survived by other relatives and friends. The graveside service for Lewis will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W.
