Obituary of Phyllis Hughey

Phyllis Marie Hughey, 78, of Waukesha, WI, died peacefully in hospice care August 3, 2013. She was born in Galesburg Cottage Hospital on December 4, 1934 to parents, William and Ellen Hughey of East Galesburg, IL. She graduated with honors in music from Galesburg High School in 1952, and later in her midyears received an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies from Midstate College of Peoria, IL. Phyllis and her family lived most of their years together in Morton, IL. There she steadfastly served her family, church and community with dedication and love. Phyllis's creative spirit was expressed over her lifetime through her joy of music, playing piano, singing, designing and making beautiful clothing and home furnishings, refinishing antiques, cooking, writing, reading, and researching topics of keen interest, Phyllis is survived by three children: Deborah (Russell) Theobald, of Victoria, IL; Rebecca (Edward) Rice of St. Paul, MN; and Kenneth (Ann) Vogel, Jr. of Waukesha, WI. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are lovingly invited to join Phyllis's family for a Memorial Service on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11:00 am, preceded by a Visitation at 10:00 am, at the Victoria United Methodist Church, 102 W. Washington St., in Victoria, IL. Phyllis requested that, instead of flowers, donations be made to the Children's Hospital of Illinois (Peoria).
