Martha E. Pettengell age 97 of Waukesha, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 18, 2013 at The Virginia Health & Rehab Center. Martha was born on August 14, 1916 in Bullard, Texas the daughter of Thornton L. and Ida (Frost) Kiphart. She was united in marriage to Rev. William T. Pettengell. Martha was an ordained Minister and served throughout her years with the Metropolitan Church Association (MCA) primarily in India. She happily shared her love of God with everyone she encountered. Martha enjoyed spending time with her family and her sister but the most enjoyment she received was through helping others and reaching out to them through the word of God. She will be remembered best for her gentle spirit and beautiful smile. Her daily talks with God included the mention of family, friends and those she met along the way. The power of prayer was demonstrated through this amazing servant of God. The song "This Little Light of Mine" was how she lived her life. Martha will be dearly missed by her step-daughter, Charlotte Ann Pettengell of Jacksonville, FL; three step-grandsons and nine step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are four generations of nieces and nephews. She is further survived by dear friends and the countless number of lives she has touched both in this country and her service in India. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Thornton and Ida Kiphart; husband, Rev. William T. Pettengell; her brothers, George, Paul, Clarence, Happy, Thornton Jr. and Frank; and her sisters, Lillian Leber and Ruth Kiphart.
