Obituary of Fredric P. Omsted

Fredric P. Omsted, 82years of Oconomowoc, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital with his loving wife and nieces by his side. Fred was born on September 14, 1930 the son of Rolf and Ruth (Palmer) Omsted. In April of 1963, Fred was united in marriage at St. Mark's Ev. Lutheran Church to the former Doris E. Ball. He had served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Fred loved his job as a draftsman at the Ladish Corp., where he had been employed for fifty years. Fred was a member of St. Mark's Ev. Lutheran Church. He loved sports and was an avid Packer fan. He took great pride in his yard and flower garden. Fred also enjoyed feeding birds, squirrels and loved dogs. He always had a treat for them in his pocket when he visited friends and family. Fred enjoyed participating in many, many family activities. Fred is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Doris. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces. Fred had a special place in his heart for his nieces, Debbie, Sandy, Terri, Tami, Jamie and Lexa. All his nieces adored their "Uncle Fred" and said frequently how he was always there for them. He was a godfather to Steve Johnson, Tanya (Johnson) Westover, Jamie Kresnak, and Lisa (Strahan) Szydlowski. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Rolf and Ruth Omsted, niece, Jane, and a sister; Martha Inda. The visitation for Fred will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until the 5:00 p.m. service at St. Mark's Ev. Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Avenue, Waukesha, Wisconsin 53188. The Rev. Andy Fetters will be officiating. Private interment will take place on Monday, August 19, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Fred may be given to the American Lung Association of Wisconsin, 13100 W. Lisbon Rd., Suite 700, Brookfield, Wisconsin 53005.
