Obituary of Ruth B. Lockman

Ruth B. Lockman of Waukesha passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at CareAge of Brookfield at the age of 85 years. She was born on July 31, 1928 in Elmhurst, IL the daughter of Clarence and Martha (nee Popp) Bailey. Ruth graduated from Carroll College in 1950 with a degree in Chemistry. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Waukesha. Additionally, she was the secretary at Hawthorne Elementary School in Waukesha for 25 years. Ruth enjoyed reading and bird watching, was a member and supporter of the Milwaukee County Zoo, and loved to attend Waukesha North High School athletic events and concerts. Most of all Ruth loved spending time with her three sons and all of the grand and great-grandchildren. Ruth was a loving mother to David W. (Blakey) Lockman of Stevensville, MT, William B. (Susan) Lockman of West Allis, WI and John C. (Louise) Lockman of Mequon, WI; grandmother to Curt W. (Melissa) Lockman, Julie R.( Jason)Koch, Daniel C. Lockman, Jenna L. Lockman, Jack W. Lockman and Lucas J. Lockman; great-grandmother "Gee-Gee" to Reese, William, Landon and Lincoln. She is further survived by sisters, Barbara B. (Hugh) Wells of CA, Peggy B. Denham of KY and Sandra B. (Jay) Newton of MO.; sister- in-law Gerda Lockman of Waukesha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, D.B. Lockman; brother, Richard J. (Patricia) Bailey and brother-in-law Clarence Denham. The visitation for Ruth will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the 4:00 p.m. memorial service on Sunday, October 13, at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave. Waukesha, WI 53186. The Reverend Dan Schwerin will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ruth's name to First United Methodist Church (see address above) are appreciated. It was Ruth's wish that people not wear black to the memorial service as this is a "celebration of life."
