Obituary of Judy A. Mies

Judy Mies, of Waukesha, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, at the age of 70 years. She was born in Brookfield on September 14, 1943, the daughter of Ralph H. and Lorraine A. (Nee Zimbehl) Garvens. Judy was a 1961 graduate of Waukesha South High School. Prior to retirement she had been employed for twenty five years as Respite Child Care Coordinator at the Women's Center of Waukesha where she touched many lives. Judy was united in marriage to Noris "Norie" Mies on October 25, 1995. She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Judy enjoyed spending time up north at Castle Rock Lake, reading, listening to music, and attending Maxwell Street Days and other outdoor activities. She will be remembered as "Everybody's Mom and Special Grandma" and will be forever remembered for her sense of humor and her "Can Do Attitude". But most of all she will be remembered for the love and care she provided to her family. She will be sadly missed by her loving children, Angela M. (Brett) McCahan of Orlando, FL, Bradley D. Ferks of Waukesha, and Brenda A. Mies of Waukesha; granddaughter, Flora M. Ferks; father, Ralph H. Garvens of Waukesha and a brother, James R. (Marie) Garvens of Holly Springs, N.C. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Garvens, sister, Barbara Jean Garvens and her husband the true love of her life, Norie Mies. Visitation for Judy will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until the 7:00 p.m. Memorial Service at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Avenue, Waukesha, Wisconsin 53188. The Rev. D. Andrew Fetters will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Judy may be given to the American Cancer Society, N19 W24350 Riverwood Drive, Waukesha, Wisconsin 53188.
