Obituary of Rita J. Ellifson

Rita J. Ellifson of Waukesha passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Seasons Hospice at the age of 68 years. She was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on November 6, 1945, the daughter of Harold and Delores (Holte) Berg. Rita was a 1963 graduate of Eleva Strum Central High School. On October 12, 1968, at the Eleva Lutheran Church, Rita was united in marriage to Steven E. Ellifson. They have lived in Waukesha since 1972. Rita was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she participated in the Altar Guild. Rita was a member of the Wisconsin Legal Secretaries Association, and had been employed by Attorney Jane Walker. She enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling, but most of all Rita enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, Steven, sons, Mark Ellifson of Horicon, WI and Ryan (Valerie) Ellifson of Wauwatosa, WI, two grandchildren, Cecilia and Marshall Ellifson; her mother, Delores Berg; one brother, Robert (Marlys) Berg of Cushing, WI, and her mother-in-law, Eva Ellifson of Waukesha. Rita was preceded in death by her father, Harold Berg and her father-in-law, Edner Ellifson. The visitation for Rita will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014, from 10:30 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. (Noon) funeral service at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Avenue, Waukesha, Wisconsin 53188. The Reverend Andrew Fetters will be officiating. Entombment will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Rita may be given to St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church (Please see address above).
