Obituary of Bette G. Marshment

Bette G. Marshment of Waukesha passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 peacefully at her home at the age of 82 with her loving husband by her side. She was born on April 7, 1932 in Waukegan, IL, the daughter of Mathilda "Tilly" and Clifton Evans. Bette graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1949. She married the love of her life, Philip I. Marshment on September 20, 1952. They spent three years in Bermuda after they were married because Phil was stationed there for the Air Force and moved back to Waukegan in 1956 where they started their family of two children. In 1965, they moved to Waukesha where she started as a home maker; then worked as a Library Aid at Blair School. She retired after 19 years working as the secretary to the director of the Waukesha Public Library. Bette and Phil often spent winters in Florida for about 10-12 years and enjoyed going to back to Bermuda five times by cruise ship. In Waukesha, she was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader. She loved Christmas, especially Santa Claus and the beloved family dog, Packy. Bette was artistic, creative and was very resourceful. She was a lover of retail therapy, the Waukesha Civic Theater and an avid Packer fan. Bette was a member of St. Matthias/St. Philip's Episcopal Church. She was a big supporter and volunteer with the National Kidney Foundation. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 61 years, Philip; children, Michael Marshment and Cindy (Mike) Anhalt; grandchildren, Emily, Mathew and Caroline; Bette is further survived by nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Evans and daughter-in-law, Micki. The visitation for Bette will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the 6:30 p.m. Memorial Service on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 111 East Main St., Waukesha, WI. 53188. Inurnment will take place in the Columbarium Room at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bette's name to the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin, 16555 W. Bluemound Rd., Ste. 240 Brookfield, WI 53005 appreciated.
