Martha Ann (nee Lodwick) Hughson-Chambers went to be with the Lord, May 22, 2014 at the age of 89 in her home at Avalon Square, Waukesha, WI. Her 5 great grandsons, Andrew, Henry, Charles, Timothy, and Luke made her eyes sparkle. She leaves behind her sister-in-law Helen "Pat" Lodwick of Danville, IA. She will be missed by many wonderful relatives and friends. She was born in Evanston, IL on June 27, 1924, the daughter of the late William G. and Florence (nee Seeley) Lodwick, and devoted sister of the late Seeley G. Lodwick. They lived and raised their family in Mt. Prospect, IL. Later she married Royce "Scotty" Chambers and moved to St. Charles, MO. She also enjoyed spending time in her second home in Sun City, AZ. She came to live in Waukesha at Avalon Square in 2005. Throughout her life Martha kept a smile on her face, was gracious and fun to everyone she met, and never lost her sense of humor. Martha had deep roots in the family farm, in southeast Iowa, which brought her great joy and she loved talking about "the crops". In her career she worked for the Girl Scouts, as a nursery school teacher, event coordinator, traveled for Iowa Wesleyan College Development, and was active in her church life. She found great pleasure being in her gardens and arranging flowers. Martha was a sister of P.E.O. She loved talking about sports and especially loved the Olympics. She was proud to be an American, and was a longstanding member of the Republican Party. She had worked on several presidential campaigns. The family extends a warm and heartfelt thank you for the care and attention Martha received from Dr. Martin Kern, Avalon Square staff, and the caregivers of Seasons Hospice.
