Obituary of Donald W. Krueger

Donald W. Krueger of Waukesha, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at Seasons Hospice at the age of 71 years. He was born in Milwaukee on October 6, 1942 the son of Norbert W. and Magdalen "Helen" (Heinrich) Krueger. Don was a 1961 graduate of Messmer High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1965. While in college Donald joined the R.O.T.C. where he was a member of the Pershing Rifle Drill Team. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army in October of 1965 and was commissioned as a 2nd. Lieutenant and was promoted to 1st. Lieutenant while stationed in Vietnam from 1966 until 1967. He eventually achieved the rank of Captain. Donald served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1971 until 1976. On August 2, 1969 at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Donald was united in marriage to the former Joyce Kaufman. The couple made their home in Milwaukee until 1971 when they moved to Waukesha. Donald was employed with the Blood Center of Wisconsin where he was employed from 1970 until 2004 retiring as the CFO. Don was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. He and Joyce belonged to a couple's sheepshead card club. He enjoyed reading, traveling, especially on cruises to the Caribbean and attending his children's and now his granddaughters school activities. Donald will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Joyce; children, Scott (Karen) Krueger of Whitefish Bay, WI, and Heather (Joseph) Olson of West Bend, WI; granddaughters, Claudia and Audyn Krueger; brother, Kevin (Jen) Krueger of Nashotah, WI; sister-in-law, Lynn Krueger of Brown Deer, WI, mother-in-law, Dagmar Kaufman of Pewaukee, WI and step-mother, Helen Krueger of Waukesha. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gary Krueger. The visitation for Donald will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 2:00 pm until the 5:00 pm Memorial Service at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1415 Dopp Street, Waukesha, Wisconsin 53188, with military honors to immediately follow the service. Reverend Chris Marien will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Donald may be given to Ascension Lutheran Church (Please see above address).
