Obituary of Harry A. Auchter

Harry A. Auchter, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully at Avalon Square at the age of 93. He was born on August 31, 1920 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Albert and Ida (Kerone). He married the love of his life, Nancy Boefer, on August 28, 1954. Harry received his B.S. from Southeast Missouri State Teachers College and received his Masters in Physics from the State University of Iowa. Harry Taught for a year at Nebraska State Teachers College. From 1947 to 1950 he worked as an instructor at Bangkok Christian College in Thailand. Harry also taught at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. for two years. In 1953 Harry became an instructor in Physics at Carroll College where he continued to teach for 33 years. Harry was an active member of the States Teachers Physics Group, the Benjamin Goss Bird Club, the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology, the Milwaukee Astronomical Society as well as many other organizations. Harry was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Waukesha for 59 years. He enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and spending time with his family. Harry will be remembered for his ability to voluntarily lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Harry will be dearly missed by his children, Mark (Cassie) of Delafield and Ruth (James) Daniel of Catoosa, OK; grandchildren, Christopher and Jonathon Daniel; and sister, Evelyn Havener (the late Wally) of Maryland. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy and parents. The visitation for Harry will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the2:00 p.m. Memorial Service at First Presbyterian Church, 810 N. East Ave, Waukesha, WI, 53186 on Saturday, May 31, 2014. Burial will take place at the Vernon Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Harry's name are preferred to the Friends Of Retzer Nature Center, Inc., S14 W28167 Madison St. Waukesha, WI 53188-9501. The family wishes to thank the staff of Avalon Square, Optage, and Season's Hospice for their excellent care of Harry.
