Obituary of Joseph P. Scaffidi

Joseph P. Scaffidi was raised to heaven on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove at the age of 85. He was born on November 11, 1928 in Milwaukee, the son of Salvatore and Lena (Garchia) Scaffidi. Joseph attended the University of Milwaukee where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and where he was inducted into their Football Hall of Fame. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict. Joseph was employed as a Special Education Teacher with Milwaukee Public Schools. He was a founding member of the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee, being associated with them for forty years. He had also been employed as the Bar Manager at Victor's Nightclub. His amazing Legacy includes, Scott (Barb) Kaminsky of Tennessee, Laura Kaminsky of St. Petersberg, Florida, Ron (Joanne) Kaminsky of Whitefish Bay, Joshua Scaffidi of Miami, Florida, Jason (Pamela) Scaffidi of New Berlin, WI and Rebecca Scaffidi of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Bethany, Maxwell, Natalie, Lydia, Joey and Tony; two great-granddaughters and sister-in-law, Ellie Scaffidi of Mequon, WI. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, good friend Millie Taylor and two brothers, Frank and Carmen. The visitation for Joseph will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. (NOON) Celebration of Life at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Waukesha, WI. 53188. Full military honors will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Joseph may be given to the Alzheimer's Association Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter, 620 S. 76th Street Suite 160, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53214.
