Obituary of Richard G. Sonnenberg

Richard G. "Uncle Dick" Sonnenberg of Waukesha, died on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the age of 82 years. He was born in North Prairie, Wisconsin on February 2, 1932, a son of Erwin and Margaret Sonnenberg. Dick was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Waukesha Aerie 453, where he was initiated in 1961 and continued to be an active member for 53 years. He held the office of President from 1968 until 1969, and also volunteered for the Sunday morning breakfasts and many other events held at Eagles Club. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Richard will be dearly missed by his daughter, Lori (Max) Orrillo; grandchildren, Amber and Taylor Brooks; and sister, Arlene (Robert) Stewart. Richard is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie; parents; and brother, Ervin. A visitation will be held from 6PM until the time of Dick's celebration of life service at 7PM on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at the Eagles Club, 709 N. Grandview Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. A private family burial will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dick's name are appreciated to the Eagles Club, 709 N. Grandview Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188.
