Obituary of Thomas Tietyen

Thomas "Tommy" Elben Tietyen went to heaven unexpectedly on July 11, 2014 at the age of 70. Much beloved husband for nearly 50 years of Audrey (nee Kien) Tietyen; father of Gael Lynn (Jeff) Fulcer of Milwaukee; loving grandpa of Brittany Leigh and Abigail Anne Fulcer. He is also survived by his brother, David (Yvonne) Tietyen; sister, Deborah (Thomas) Serafin of Olathe, Kansas; nephew, David Kien; niece, Katelyn Serafin; brother-in-law and sisters-in-laws Steven (Nydia) Kien of New Berlin and Jerilyn Kien of Milwaukee. Further survived by many relatives, friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elben and Viola (Nee Rehfeld) Tietyen; step-mother, Ruth Tietyen; and brother-in-law, Robert Kien. Tom was born in Milwaukee, WI on April 17, 1944, was a graduate of South Division High School and attended the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He proudly served in the Army Security Agency for six years and honored his country and flag throughout his life. He worked at Ameritech for over 36 years, retiring from his Engineering position in 1999. Then, worked for the Medical College of Wisconsin for seven years, retiring in 2007. Tom's passions in life were hot air ballooning and woodworking. He was a member of the Greendale Lion's club and was a past board member of the Greendale Friends of Music. Tom was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers and would repair Talking Books for the blind once a week in Pewaukee, WI. He loved his family and was very attached to his two wonderful granddaughters. Tom will forever be remembered for his smile. He was a devout Christian, attending Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, and is now resting in the arms of his savior. The visitation for Tom will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the 1:00 P.M. Memorial Service at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 2016 Center Rd, Waukesha, WI. 53189. Military Honors will take place following the service. The Rev. Jay McDivitt will be officiating. Memorials in Tom's name are appreciated to the family.
