Obituary of Anna Mae Gotzler

Anna Mae "Ann" Gotzler, of Waukesha, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 26, 2014, the Feast Day of Saint Anne, at the age of 81 years. Ann was born in Milwaukee, WI on April 26, 1933, the daughter of the late Sylvester Joseph and Frances Josephine (nee Knarr) Schmitt. She attended St. John's Cathedral High School. She married the love of her life, James Herman Gotzler, on Feb. 23, 1952. Ann was a member of Saint Joseph's Parish, Waukesha. She was a devoted, lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers and University of Wisconsin Badgers. She donated her many talents and time to community organizations, including: Great Blue Heron Girl Scouts (Girl Scouts Wisconsin Southeast), Nelson House, Waukesha County Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse (Addiction Resource Council) and St. Joseph Catholic Church, School and Religious Education. Ann enjoyed relaxing with her husband and family at their cabin in northern Wisconsin. Ann's greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children and extended family especially if they were discussing politics and current events late into the night. Ann will be dearly missed by her children, Karen (Jim Milner) Gotzler, Steven Gotzler, John (Carla Heinz) Gotzler, Thomas (Mary Beth Armstrong) Gotzler, Donna (Jason) Goetze, Michael (Sherry Huhn) Gotzler, and Amy Gotzler; grandchildren, Emma, Alexis, Daniel (Jackie Szajna), Jessica, Timothy (fiancée April Daniels), Samantha (fiancé Munashe Chiro), Matthew, Melissa (Daniel Zak), Kimberly, Anna, Lauren, Ella, Jane, and Claudia; great-grandchildren, Leeland, Abigail, Kylie, Tyler, Amanda, Scarlet and Hope. Ann is further survived by her brother John Schmitt, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband James and brother Robert. The visitation for Ann will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the 1 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, July, 30, 2014 at Cesarz, Charapata, and Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd, Waukesha, WI 53188. The Reverend William Kohler will officiate. Private entombment. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to The Women's Center, 505 N. East Ave. Waukesha, WI 53188. Ann's family would like to send many thanks to Dr. John T. Fish, M.D., the staff of Waukesha Memorial Hospital and St. Camillus, for their kind and gentle care of Ann.
