Obituary of Charles A. McGlynn

Charles "Chuck" A. McGlynn of Brookfield, surrounded by his loving family, died on Friday, September 12, 2014, at the age of 83. Chuck was born in Milwaukee on November 12, 1930, the son of James D. "Stoney" and Helene McGlynn. He attended both Shorewood High School and Hartland High School where he played Football, Golf, Tennis, Basketball and was in the first televised Basketball game in Wisconsin. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, Counter Intelligence and was stationed in Berkeley, CA. Following his service in the U.S. Army, Chuck returned to Milwaukee, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Asbach, whom he married on April 10, 1955. He went into the private investigative field, and founded his own business, Interstate Reporting Company "I.R.C.". Chuck was a member of the Delafield Presbyterian Church and Siesta Key Chapel in Siesta Key, FL. During his retirement, Chuck enjoyed playing Tennis, walking, and enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers and Badgers. His passion for sports derived from his father being the sports editor for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, where he had the privilege of attending various sporting events in the press box and spending time with the coaches and athletes. Chuck will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and quick wit. He could always make everyone feel comfortable and loved his family and friends dearly. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy; daughters, Debra (Ed) Vickers and Diane (Steve) Ellingson; proud and loving grandfather to, Paul Vickers, Sarah (Michael) Heritsch, Kelly Vickers, Ben Ellingson, Liliana Ellingson; special great-grandfather to Abigail Heritsch; and beloved niece, Michele Blasco. He is further survived by other loving relatives and many friends. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother and best friend, Richard "Dick" D. McGlynn. The visitation for Chuck will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from10:00 A.M. until the time of the 11:30 A.M. funeral service at the Delafield Presbyterian Church, 1851 N Genesee St, Delafield, WI 53018. A private burial with military honors will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Union Grove, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Chuck's name are appreciated to Delafield Presbyterian Church (see address above) or the Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Avenue, Suite #202 Wilmette, IL 60091. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Carlson, Amy and the staff at Froedtert Hospital for the love and support they showed to Chuck during his care.
