Obituary of Dolores V. Winter

Dolores "Dorie" V. Winter passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of December 23, 2014. Although she will be terribly missed by her loving family and friends, she is happily sharing this blessed season with her cherished husband, Dan. Dorie was born on August 21, 1920, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Harry and Ella Backes. She married the love of her life; Daniel H. Winter on Sept. 13, 1941. She and Dan loved to travel and enjoyed singing and dancing with each other. Dorie volunteered with RSVP at Oconomowoc Hospital. Sewing was a passion of Dorie's, as well as gambling, bingo, word search and playing cards. Most of all spending time with family was a highlight of her life. Dorie will be sadly missed by her children, Daniel J. (Jane) Winter of Waukesha, Barb (Jim) Christus of Pewaukee, Ellen (Robert) Schulz of Wales and John (Ruth Winter of Oak Creek; grandchildren, Chris (Lara) Winter of IN, Dan (Nancy) Buss of Oconomowoc, Jason Schulz of Wales, Michael (Heidi) Winter of Kimberly, Andy Schulz of Wales and Nicole (Tony) Adsit of Pewaukee; great-grandchildren, Logan, Brianna, Madelyn, Jack, Mason, Madyson and Immagin. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. Dorie is preceded in death by her husband, Dan; her grandson, David Buss; sisters, Effie, Louie, Gladie, and Eunie and special friend Carmen Benedict. Special thanks to the many staff and caregivers at Care-Age of Brookfield who took such good care of Mom and especially, George who always brought a smile to her face and filled her days with happiness. The visitation for Dorie will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. The Rev. Curt Frederick will be officiating. Entombment will immediately follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
