John A. Gedakovitz Jr.
Of Waukesha, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 5, 2011 at
AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 70 years. John was born on October 15, 1940, the son of
John Sr. and Mildred Gedakovitz in Waukesha, WI. He married the love of his life Ann (Campbell)
on August 26, 1961. John was a Telephone Technician for Wisconsin Bell for 32 years until his
retirement in 1994, he also was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. During
retirement, he was an avid cook and took many cooking classes in his spare time as well as model
shipbuilding. John proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961 and served aboard the
Destroyer USS Abbott, and was a member of the Navy League, USS Kidd Association and Tin Can
Sailors. He enjoyed attending the Naval reunions. John was a dedicated member of St. Mary
Catholic Church.
John will be dearly missed by his wife, Ann of 49 years; his children, Sheryl (Steve) Livermore of
Waukesha, John A. Gedakovitz III of Waukesha and Susan (Rick) Ruzga of Nashotah;
grandchildren, Andrea, Ben, Sam and Emily; they will miss their beloved Papa. Further survived by
brothers-in-law, John (Sylvia) Campbell, Dan (Pat) Campbell and George Reinbold, many nieces,
nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jo
Reinbold; brothers-in-law Paul, Billy and Jim Campbell.
The Mass of Christian Burial for John will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
at St. Mary Catholic Church 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, WI. Reverend Howard Haase will
officiate. The visitation for John will be on Wednesday, February 9, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m. at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Waukesha, WI. A
second visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m.
mass at church. Entombment at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors to follow the
Mass.
