Obituary of Paul J. Hunkins

Paul J. Hunkins Of Waukesha, found peace on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, at the age of 87 years. Paul was born in Waukesha, on October 1, 1923 to Paul Sr. and Ida (nee Sabrowski) Hunkins. He married Virginia Purkis on January 22, 1944. Paul was a long time member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church, Waukesha. He faithfully served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, until he was stricken with Rheumatic Fever. Paul was a project engineer at Miller Brewery for 34 years, until his retirement in 1985. In retirement, Paul enjoyed traveling, golfing, woodworking, and model ship building. He was also a loyal Cubs fan. Paul will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He will be fondly remembered for his kind nature, devotion to his family, and for his enduring sense of humor. Paul is survived by his sons, James (Tammy Hennager) of Brodhead, WI, and Timothy (Vicki) of Waukesha; nine grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; son, Stephen; daughter, Judith Schuetze Flynn; parents; and brother, James. A visitation for Paul will be held on Sunday, June 26, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. A second visitation will be held on Monday, June 27, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 111 E. Main St., Waukesha, 53187. Reverend David Simmons will be officiating. Burial immediately following the funeral service at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
