Harold Ray Cummings
Of Waukesha, WI and Naples, FL died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the age of 92 years.
Harold was born in Iowa City, Iowa on July 4, 1918 the son, of Ray and Marie Cummings. He
married the love of his life, Martha Felter from Van Meter, Iowa, on December 27, 1942. Harold
was a longtime member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Waukesha. He worked for the General
Electric Company from May 1942 to August 1981. Harold was awarded 8 patents throughout
his years as an Engineer and Manager for GE including the CT Scanner Detector, Rotating X-Ray
Tube Structure and other x-ray tube improvements. He was also a senior member of the GE Elfun
Society. Harold was a member of the Masons-Waukesha Lodge #37, Tripoli Drum and Bugle
Corps and the Scottish Rite. His passion for outdoor activities started as a boy. He enjoyed deer
hunting, golfing, hiking the "Rocky Mountains," fishing, and camping, into his eighties. Harold also
enjoyed square dancing and playing bridge. He was an avid gardener who took great joy in
planting and caring for his cherry and walnut trees.
Harold will be dearly missed by his wife, Martha; children, Stephen (Suzanne) Cummings, Gordon
(Pamela) Cummings and David (Kathleen) Cummings; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Grace) Cummings,
Carolyn (Eric) Standarski, Brian Cummings, Laura (Keith) Clarin, Kathryn Cummings, Joseph-
Patrick Cummings and Matthew Cummings; great-grandchildren, Skyler, Zecheriah, Taylor, Bailey,
Mason, Eric, Julia, and Gretchen. Harold is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was
preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret (the late William) Wright.
The funeral service for Harold will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke's
Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha, WI 53186. The Reverend Gary Liedtke will be
officiating. The visitation will be held on Monday, March 21, from 4:00 PM until the time of the
6:30 PM Masonic service at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland
Bld., Waukesha, WI 53188. A second visitation will be held Tuesday, March 22, from 9:30 AM
until the time of the 10:30 AM service at St. Luke's Lutheran Church (see address above). Burial
will immediately follow the service at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha. In lieu of flowers,
memorials in Harold's name are appreciated to the Waukesha County Legacy Forest, 515 W.
