Obituary of Donna Mae Jurs

Donna Mae Jurs (Nicklas), 83, of Waukesha, was born into eternal life Feb 3, 2022. She was born on Jan. 7, 1939 in Elgin, IL to the late Betty (Newberry) and Paul Nicklas. 

She grew up in Carpentersville, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. She was a 1957 graduate of Dundee High School. She married Darwin Jurs in June of 1960 and spent many years as a homemaker where they lived in Gilberts, IL. After their divorce in 1988, she became a Certified Nurses Assistant and worked at Apostolic Christian Resthaven in Elgin before moving to Wisconsin in 1994. She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and was so elated to witness them win the World Series in 2016. After moving to WI, she was a devoted Grandma and served as babysitter extraordinaire for three of her grandchildren. Zoo visits were frequent and much loved!

Survived by her daughter Denise (Chris) Watrous of Waukesha, WI. Son David Jurs of Gilberts, IL, son Donald (Rebecca) Jurs of Illinois. Four grandchildren, Emma (Ryan) Koehn of Pewaukee, WI, Arie Horaitis and Ella Horaitis of Waukesha, WI and Bradley Jurs of Illinois. One great grandson, Henry Koehn, of Pewaukee, WI. A sister, Jane Karsten of Crystal Lake, IL and a brother Kenny (Carla) Nicklas of Florida. 

In addition to her parents and grandparents, she is preceded in death by her brother-in-law Dale Karsten and a niece Lori Karsten.

Her daughter would like to thank the nurses and social workers with Allay Home & Hospice for their kindness and compassion during Donna's eight days in hospice. 

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1205 S. East Ave. Waukesha, WI 53186. Visitation from 5:30pm until the service at 6:00pm. The Rev. Peter Schmidt officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Donna to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church of Waukesha, WI or the Milwaukee Zoological Society.
