Our family is so sorry to hear of the passing of Joan. My daughter Jocelyn, now a senior in HS, began taking piano lessons with Joan in first grade, and spent many years advancing with her. She fell in love with piano with Joan. I spent many lessons listening from the chair inside th front door. The memories of those times are strong for both Jocelyn and I, including the Christmas village house display and the smell of dinner cooking in the kitchen. It always smelled like my grandma's cooking. My grandma was also a music teacher- and was my own teacher for many years. It was really a dear and special experience for me to hear Joan's voice coaching Jocelyn and hear the echos of my own grandma who had passed on many years before she was able to meet my daughter. Joan always showed concern for Jocelyn, not just as a student, but as I would have imagined my own grandma would have. She could always be counted on for a sparkly ornament at Christmas- that Jocelyn now has tucked away somewhere, and a flower to plant at the beginning of summer. Even though Joan eventually retired from giving piano lessons, her impact was lasting. I know my girl would not be the person she is now, without the access to music lessons she had by walking around the corner for so many years.
Rest in peace, and thank you Joan. We were blessed to have our lives touched by yours. The Kindrai Family
