Growing up in Waukesha, I knew of Jim and his basketball prowess even though I went to the WHS. I first met Jim at an incoming freshman welcome seminar at Marquette U. With his engaging personality and taking the same classes in Mechanical Engineering, we soon became good friends. Our careers after graduation took us in different directions and locations, but Jim made it a point to always keep in contact. He would invite me to golf with him at Merrill Hills even though I was a terrible golfer and he was a low handicapper. I would wonder why he would put up with the agony of hosting a hacker, but I now realize it wasn’t about golf; it was about friendship. During our retirement years in SW Florida, we would get together twice a season with our wives for golf and dinner. Jim was an excellent golfer who didn’t lose many golf balls, but was very adept at finding them. One evening, after dinner, he presented me with 350 lost golf balls that he had found over the years. He recognized that I needed them much more than he did. This was typical Jim.
Jim’s family has lost a caring, dedicated father, and we have lost a genuine friend who was without pretense or agenda. He is now in a better place, but while on this earth, he made a lasting impact on all of us who knew him. For all young fathers, he is a role model.

I first met Jim in an elevator, with the delicious aroma of chocolate chip cookies wafting in. “That’s coming from my house!” Jim said. I told him he was a lucky man and he agreed. Soon he was at our door with a plate of Judy’s amazing chocolate chip cookies. Talk about lovely neighbors!
Judy, Frank and I are so terribly sorry for your loss.

Dear Judy,
I'm Janet Sedgwick McGill, your WHS classmate 1965. So sorry to read about Jim. I had the pleasure of chatting with him at our 50 year high school reunion back in 2015. He patiently explained to me how to find the Eagles Club where his 50 year high school reunion was a week after ours!
My thoughts are prayers are with you and your family at this time. God be with you.
