Obituary of Joanne S. Rohrwasser

Joanne S. Rohrwasser (nee Simmons), of New Berlin and formally of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, on Friday June 12 at the age of 86. She was surrounded by her family.  Joanne was born in White Lake, WI on December 9, 1933. She was the daughter of Frederick and Helen (nee Hanson) Simmons. On June 26, 1954, she married, Alexander (Alex) Rohrwasser and together, they raised four children.  

Joanne will be remembered for her laugh and caring nature. She enjoyed fishing during her yearly trips up north, testing her luck with her friends at the casino, competing in Wii bowling, shopping at thrift stores, and cheering on her Green Bay Packers. Joanne found joy in cooking and baking for her family and her neighbors, she was best known for her German Potato Salad, 24-Hour Pickles, and desserts. She loved her sweets, especially ice cream! She was a loving and caring person and was always willing to help where needed. Most of all, she loved caring for and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  

Joanne will be deeply missed by her children, Mark (Laurie) Rohrwasser of Waukesha, Gerald Rohrwasser of AZ, Kathy (Manny) Johnson of Delafield; grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy)Hines of FL, Shane Rohrwasser of OR, Sarah (Bryan)Miller of Brown Deer; great granddaughter, Josie; son-in-law, Donald Borucki of AZ. She is further survived by sister, Eileen, special friend, Adele, and many relatives and friends.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Helen; husband Alex; daughter, Mary Borucki; grandson, Christopher Heinrich; brother, Freddie Simmons; and son-in-law, Kevin Hughes.

Joanne will be laid to rest at Prairie Home Cemetery on Thursday July 9 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Laura Gerstl-Beukema officiating.

A celebration of Joanne’s life will be held at a later date when we can all be together.
