Obituary of Thomas John Ellenson
Thomas John “Tom” Ellenson passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the age of 86. Tom was the loving son of Clarence and Corrine (nee Gedokaivtz) Ellenson. He was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on May 13, 1933. On February 12, 1955, he married the love of his life Virginia “Ginny” Meeks. Thomas worked as a meat cutter at Sentry Foods for 15 years until his promotion to buyer and merchandiser, which he did for 36 years. After he retired from Sentry, he worked part time for Kohl’s and Moreland Medical. In his spare time, he was a member of the Lions Club, the Lake County Carvers, and Builders for Christ where he helped build churches all over the country. He was also involved in Junior Achievement and was a 4-H leader. Tom loved the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, golf, and woodcarving. Tom was a lifelong member at Trinity Lutheran Church. He served as a board Elder, the financial Treasurer, and an usher.
Tom will be dearly missed by his wife of 65 years, Virginia; children Randy (Debbie) of Wyoming, Ricky (Beth) of New Holston, and Wendy (Jim) Russell of Lake Geneva; grandchildren, Matthew, Jared, Kelly, Cody, and Ryan. A host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends further survives him. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Corrine; grandson Jed; sisters Carol, Joan, and Charlotte Johnson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Hill Terrace Assisted Living and ProHealth Care Hospice for their care of Tom.
The visitation for Tom will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of services at 12:00 p.m. Noon, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1052 White Rock Ave, Waukesha, WI 53186. Burial to follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
