I remember the first time I walked into the dark woods on opening morning of the Wisconsin deer hunting week 1976 - my first year with a gun. Dad dropped me off at my assigned hunting spot and walked on to his. I remember being afraid as I was never alone in the woods before. But I knew my father would never put me in harm's way, so I took a deep breath, released it, relaxed and started taking in the quiet of the dark woods. I no longer was afraid but started to enjoy the quiet of the woods and the sounds that started coming to my ears as the forest awoke. It was such an exhilarating experience and reinforced my love of hunting and being with family that special week. Thank you Dad! I will honor that gift my whole life and pass it on whenever I can. I love and miss you! Mike

Your father/grandfather was a very special man who always held family first. That's just one reason he was special. He had a warm smile and a good heart and everyone enjoyed his company. He will always be fondly remembered. I'm so sorry for your loss, but your memories will continue on and bring laughter to those that hear the stories.

To all of Mavis and Ernie’s fantastic boys and girls, their children, and grandchildren, we send our condolences. So many fond memories of your DAD, from just being a much loved neighbor to a goose and pheasant hunting companion. The trips to the Horicon for geese and the memorable hunts in the Vernon Marsh chasing pheasant behind our Black Labs, Baron and Alex are some of my fondest memories.
Always treasured our visits with Ernie after your MOM passed away. Talking about Smokey & Buck and my Labs Baron, Alex, Belle, Mocha, Maggie, and Gianni. We certainly shared a profound love for our Labs, Black & Chocolate. Your DAD had a dog around him till the end. How appropriate!!
Your MOM and DAD are together once again and will never be forgotten by those of us who had the blessed privilege of knowing them. Together, they were wonderful & loving parents who raised such great kids. Love every one of you. Thanks for the memories and your friendship during all those years we were your neighbors and afterwards.
God bless you all and your children as well.

Ernie taught me to appreciate horseradish mustard, ground round sandwiches and the value of a secret. Now I can tell the story of riding with him east of Lublin in his 54 Pontiac convertible. He took the s curve too fast and we ended up heading back in the direction we came from. Mave, mom and dad never knew about that. He bought me my first real new baseball glove and introduced my to the first Major leagues baseball player I met. His softball teammate Bob Botz. One of my most cherished memories is when he came home, opened the trunk to his car and pulled out his glove and ball and we played catch in the yard.
