Richard A. Suleski, age 78, reunited with his son, Rich Suleski on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. He was born on July 3, 1940 in Wauwatosa, WI. Richard graduated from Waukesha South High School and then attended the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. He was a long-time member at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha for over 50 years and enjoyed nature for all of his life. Richard was self-employed as a beekeeper, starting as an assistant beekeeper at the age of 14. At one point during his career, he was taking care of over 1,000 hives. After his retirement and during the last year of his life, Richard missed his bees so much that he put a beehive in his backyard. Every day, he would put on his bee veil and, with a big smile on his face, Richard would check his bees. Richard also enjoyed visiting residents at retirement homes, volunteering with the ERA, participating in Folk Fairs, and sharing his knowledge about the life of the honey bee with anyone. He also taught beekeeping at WCTC, to the Army National Guard who were being deployed to Iraq, at Old World Wisconsin, and with school children. Richard always said: “I hope they have bees in Heaven.”
Richard is survived by a host of family and friends. He was married to Sharon for 48 years; a step-dad to Sherry and Sally; and brother to Donald Suleski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Hilda (nee Uebelher) Suleski; his son, Rich Suleski at the age of 35; and his beloved cat, Buddy, who he sweet talked more than his wife.
The visitation for Richard will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. memorial service at St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188. The Rev. Andy Fetters will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the church (see address above).
