Shoko K. Nehs (nee Kodera), of Waukesha, passed away at home on February 27, 2020 at the age of 87. Shoko was born in Japan on December 19, 1932, the daughter of Shotaro and Yaeko Kodera. Shoko married her husband, Charles Irving Waite Nehs and relocated to the United States in late 1950s. Shoko brought her love of Japan and the Japanese culture and art with her to Wisconsin. She adored nature, parks, her private gardens, and feeding the backyard birds. Shoko also enjoyed studying the Bible, numbers, and taking care of her pets: dogs, cats, pigeons, white doves, and tropical birds. Most of all, Shoko loved her children.
Shoko will be missed by her son, Roy Allen Nehs of Waukesha. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; and daughter, Rie Kodera Maves.
A private burial will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery. A celebration of Shoko’s life will be scheduled for a later date.
