Arnold "Arnie" Sonnenburg

Arnold “Arnie” Sonnenburg, of Waukesha, entered his heavenly home on January 30, 2020 at the age of 92. He was born in Tunnel City, WI on September 4, 1927, the son of Fred and Emma (nee Boettcher) Sonnenburg. Arnold graduated from Tomah High School. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Navy.  After an honorable discharge from his military service, Arnold made his home in Waukesha, WI where he met the love of his life Martha, and they were married July 3, 1948. Arnie’s most recent employment was with RTE Corp. where he retired in 1985 after 22 years of service. Arnie loved gardening, working on home projects, fishing, hunting, gambling, and playing the harmonica and accordion. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, family, and spending time on his property in Warrens Wisconsin.

Arnold will be deeply missed by his children, Sue (the late Gary), Gary (the late Jan), Diane Kienast, Scott (Linda), Greg (Jen), Jeff (Bill Conklin), 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Family friend Barbara Brooks and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, his parents Fred and Emma, 3 sisters; Amelia Gilner, Dela Nauman, Dorothy Wagner, and 1 brother, Leo.

The visitation for Arnie will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of services at 12:00 NOON at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1052 White Rock Ave, Waukesha, WI 53186. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Trinity Lutheran Church.

The family of Arnie would like to thank the staff at the Avalon and Prohealth Care Hospice for the love and care they put into taking care of their father.
